Cottonwood - L

The model was created with nicely detailed textures for high resolution renders and animation closeups. Started by following the image references from multiple angles. Texture for parts such as midsole, collar, nose & laces were created from custom tile-able patterns. Main leather was achieved with combination of multiple textures merged and smoothly masked to match the original beauty. Software used in the process were max, topogun, substance painter & octane.

Modeling Process

The creative process behind the video was centered around highlighting the product’s technical excellence and trail performance through clean, confident storytelling. Emphasis was placed on the shoe’s tangible benefits such as recycled materials that reduce CO₂ emissions, rugged yet responsibly sourced leather, and performance-driven features like Trail Tread grip, O FIT Insole® cushioning, and B‑Dry waterproof breathability. The narrative was created to feel purposeful and premium, combining smooth product close-ups, dynamic visuals, and functional callouts that showcase durability, comfort, and innovation. This product-first approach reinforces Oboz’s reputation as a brand built for real-world adventure.

Created a 12 second loop animation for Instagram and other vertical apps. Displaying beauty of the blue colorway and the soft cushioning effect of the mid-sole & In-sole.

Vertical 12sec loop

For simulations, tyflow was used throughout the video. Shoe was rigged with bones to capture the organic smooth motion where folding and bending is achieved. The stitching effect was first animated on the spline and then drawn over with an offset via tyflow. Rain simulation effect was also created with tyflow. Shoe laces bulge effect was created with shape morphing. Rendered in octane and composited in AE.
